Roza Rakhny Ke Niyat / Sehri Ke Dua
When you observe fast, you need to have a Sehri before the Fajr Azaan. In that time, you are allowed to eat and drink everything you want to. But here it comes about “Roza rakhnay ki niyat” or “sehri ki dua”! What is it all about?
It is a Dua that is read when you finish your Sehri and after the “Sehri Ki Dua”, you are not allowed to eat or drink anything afterwards. So, what is about “Roza rakhnay ki niyat”?
It is a simple and short Dua as given below!
وَبِصَوْمِ غَدٍ نَّوَيْتَ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ
Pronunciation: Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri Ramadan
Meaning: I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan
So, you have to read this Dua when you finish your sehri and it will lock your fast for the whole day. Now you will observe a fast during the whole day long!
Roza Kholne Ke Niyat / Iftaari Ki Dua
Here comes the “Iftaari Ki Dua”, also known as “Roza Kholnay Ki Niyat”. It is also a short Dua that is read before the Iftaarti at the time of Maghrib Azaan. You have to read this Dua before you break your Fast. After reading this Dua, you will be able to eat and drink anything. So, with the Iftaari, you complete your fast by eating the Iftaar items. “Iftaar Ki Dua” Or “Roza Kholnay Ki Niyat” is given below!
اللَّهُمَّ اِنِّى لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ امنْتُ [وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ] وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ اَفْطَرْتُ
Pronunciation: Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu [wa ‘alayka tawakkaltu] wa ‘ala rizq-ika aftartu
Meaning: O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You [and I put my trust in You] and I break my fast with Your sustenance
[“wa ‘alayka tawakkaltu” is quoted in some books of knowledge – but not in all, therefore, it is in brackets]
